An 18-year-old man is in critical condition after he was shot in North Long Beach Wednesday evening.

The victim sustained a gunshot wound to the upper body and was transported to a local hospital in critical but stable condition, Long Beach police said Thursday morning.

Officers arrived at the scene in the 1100 block of Via Wanda at approximately 8:40 p.m. Wednesday night, where they found the injured victim as well as bullet casings. The shooter had fled the scene, and the motive is unknown, police said.

According to police, the victim has not been cooperating with investigators.
