A man was shot and injured Tuesday night during a drive-by shooting near Long Beach City College’s Pacific Coast Campus, police said.

Long Beach Police Department spokesperson Brandon Fahey said officers responded to reports of a shooting around 9:18 p.m. in the area of Molino Avenue and Pacific Coast Highway, located just on the city limits that separate Long Beach from Signal Hill.

Police say a man was sitting in his parked car when another man in a vehicle pulled up alongside him, shot him and then drove off.

When police arrived at the scene, they found the man who was parked in his car suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper body, Fahey said. The Long Beach Fire Department arrived and personnel transported the man to a nearby hospital where he is in stable condition. No other injuries were reported during the shooting.

At this time, police do not know the motive for the shooting. Gang detectives also responded to the area and the department is handling the investigation.
