A 25-year-old man was sentenced to six years in state prison on Thursday for leading police on a pursuit on the 710 Freeway until his car crashed, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

According to a release, Lajuan Deshaun King made a court appearance on Thursday and pleaded no contest to a felony count of fleeing a pursuing peace officer’s motor vehicle, causing serious bodily injury. He also admitted he was previously convicted of second-degree robbery, according to the attorney’s office.

On May 7, the police were dispatched to a suspected robbery at a restaurant on the 700 block of West Valley Boulevard in Alhambra, said Deputy District Attorney Presciliano Duran.

Upon arrival, police saw a white spotted car leaving the scene, and they followed, prompting the beginning of a pursuit.

The driver of the suspect vehicle, later identified as Lajuan King, entered the 710 Freeway and drove south to Long Beach, where he found an exit ramp. Shortly after exiting, he lost control of his car and crashed, according to Duran.

The case was investigated by the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD).
