A man is expected to survive after he was shot Monday night during an argument in Alamitos Beach, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

Police say the shooting occurred just before 10 p.m. near a multi-unit residence in the 1600 block of Appleton Street.

The man told police that he was in front of his neighbor’s home when the two began arguing, which escalated into the neighbor shooting him, according to the LBPD.

When officers arrived at the scene of the shooting, they located the victim with a gunshot wound to the lower body and he was transported by Long Beach Fire Department personnel to a local hospital where he was treated for his injuries, police said. No other injuries were reported.

Meanwhile, police are looking for the shooter, who fled the scene before officers could respond. The incident is under investigation and detectives are trying to figure out a motive, according to the LBPD. Authorities said the victims appeared to know each other prior to the shooting.
