A man transported himself to a local hospital after he was shot in the leg in a drive-by shooting Wednesday afternoon in North Long Beach near DeForest Park, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
LBPD spokesperson Allison Gallagher said that officers were sent to a local hospital Wednesday, Jan. 5 at around 6:27 p.m., after a man checked in with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the lower body.
The injured man told police that he was walking down Long Beach Boulevard and Ellis Street when someone in a vehicle pulled up next to him, shot him from inside the vehicle and fled. Officers, however, were unable to locate the scene of the crime after responding to the area where the shooting had allegedly occurred.
At this time, the shooting motive is unclear and the investigation is ongoing.
