A man was injured after a stabbing Saturday evening in the Willmore neighborhood, police say.’

According to the Long Beach Police Department, at approximately 5:42 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Magnolia Avenue regarding a stabbing.

Upon arrival, officers found a man with a non-threatening stab wound to the upper body, who then received medical aid and was transported to a local hospital by the Long Beach Fire Department, said LBPD.

According to the police department, a preliminary investigation indicates that the victim was indoors when a man he knew stabbed him in the upper body.

The suspect fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival, said LBPD.

The motive for the stabbing is under investigation, and the investigation is ongoing.
