A man is expected to live after being stabbed near the intersection of Long Beach Boulevard and Bort Street near Coolidge Park on Saturday at around 6:23 p.m., police said.

The stabbing occurred after a verbal altercation escalated between the man and the assailant, police said, and the suspect fled in a vehicle before officers arrived.

Long Beach Fire transported the victim to a local hospital where he was treated for his non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said.

The assailant has not been found and the investigation is ongoing, authorities said.
