A man was hospitalized early Thursday morning after being shot in North Long Beach, authorities said.

The shooting occurred shortly after midnight in the 6300 block of Myrtle Avenue, which runs along Houghton Park. When officers arrived in the area, they located the wounded man who had been struck by gunfire in the lower body.

Police say the man had been standing outside when he heard a gunshot and realized he had been hit. Authorities transported the man to a local hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

No suspect information is known at this time, but police said they located evidence at the scene, including bullet casings. The investigation, including looking into a motive, is ongoing, according to the LBPD.
