A man is expected to survive after being shot in the lower body near Cambodia Town Sunday night, authorities said.

Officers responded to reports of a shooting at the 1000 block of Temple Avenue around 11 p.m., according to Long Beach Police Department spokesperson Brandon Fahey. Upon arrival, officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim said he was walking close to Temple Avenue and Anaheim Street, near Cambodia Town, when he heard gunshots and realized he was hit, Fahey said, adding that the man continued walking south before being met by police near the Rose Park neighborhood.

Officers found bullet casings and a car that had been struck by a bullet, Fahey said.

The Long Beach Fire Department transported the victim to a local hospital in stable condition, according to Fahey.

The victim did not provide police with any information regarding possible suspects or the circumstances of the shooting, Fahey said. The motive behind the shooting remains unknown, he said.
