Police say they are investigating a shooting Tuesday night in Long Beach’s Wrigley neighborhood that left one man injured.

Officers were notified of the shooting just before 10 p.m. and responded to the 2500 block of Chestnut Avenue, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

Once there, officers were notified a man had been shot and transported himself to a local hospital, police said.

At the hospital, officers located the man who had been struck by gunfire, police said. He told officers that he was parked inside his vehicle in the area of the crime scene when an unknown number of people in another vehicle approached him and then opened fire at him, according to authorities.

The suspects then drove off in an unknown direction, police said, adding that no other injuries were reported.

The motive for the shooting and suspect information is not known at this time, police said.
