Editor’s note: Police said late Monday morning that Maria Torres Capi had been found safe and was being reunited with family.

The Long Beach Police Department is asking for help finding an elderly woman who has gone missing for the second time in three weeks.

Maria Torres Capi, 75, was last seen at a relative’s home in the 1200 block of Olive Avenue around 4 p.m. Sunday, police said.

“She recently moved to Long Beach and is not familiar with the City or with using public transportation,” authorities said. “It is believed her possible destination is Tijuana, Mexico.”

She also has medical conditions that can cause her to become disoriented.

“She only speaks Spanish and tends to wander off,” police said.

Last month, police sent a similar alert when Torres Capi went missing on Sept. 27. That time, she disappeared in the area of Anaheim Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, but she was found the next day about half-a-mile away.

Torres Capi is described as a 4-foot-10 Hispanic woman with brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a brown sweater, purple tank top, pink and black leggings, black shoes and white socks. She also had a purple suitcase.

She has dental implants in her upper teeth and was wearing brown bracelets on her wrists.

Anyone with information is asked to call the LBPD missing persons detail at 562-570-7246 or police dispatch at 562-435-6711.
