Former chair of the Long Beach Redevelopment Agency Thomas Fields has been appointed to the empty seat in the Harbor Commission, according to a press release from the office of Mayor Bob Foster today.

The seat on the five-member commission has been vacant since the summer. The City Council must approve the Mayor’s appointment before the move is final.

Fields owns a marketing and advertising firm called Thomas Fields Associates, and previously served with the City’s Redevelopment Agency and Planning Commission. He is currently vice president on the board of directors for Ronald McDonald House.

“I am honored to have been asked by Mayor Bob Foster to serve on the Harbor Commission,” reads a statement from Fields. “This is a major responsibility and I look forward to fulfilling the trust placed in me by the Mayor.”

In November 2008, Mayor Foster appointed Susan Wise to the Harbor Commission.
