Los Angeles County voters passed Measure R today, increasing the sales tax by one half-cent to generate an expected $40 billion over the next 30 years that will be used to improve transportation infrastructure in an effort to reduce local traffic congestion.  Measure R enjoyed a 67.4% voter approval.

The Metro Board of Directors will oversee the spending, and produce an annual independent audit report overseen by a taxpayers oversight committee.
