Metro Blue Line weekenders will, once again, have to face a fairly major inconvenience for the sake of improvements being made to the Metro Blue Line, a necessary evil for the face-lift of one of the most frequented modes of transportation in Long Beach and Los Angeles. Metro has announced that, beginning next week, two Blue Line stations will be closed for another four weekends so that crews can continue working on the line’s $1.2 billion overhaul.
Continuing efforts of the six-year plan to improve the Blue Line have been scheduled to take place at Willow and Wardlow Stations starting Monday, January 19, while no disruption to train service will occur on weekdays. While improvements start Monday, the actual closures are scheduled to start at 9:00PM on Fridays and will last until 5:00AM on Mondays.
Starting on January 19, crew members will be prepping, painting and getting ready for the heavy-lifting, so to speak, involved with installing new canopies during the following weekends.
