On Monday, November 26, the Long Beach Police Department’s Vice Section in cooperation with investigators from the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control embarked on two undercover operations aimed at curbing the ability of minors to obtain alcohol in the city.

The first operation, similar to the one conducted during October and November which resulted in the citation of 16 businesses, was a “Minor Decoy” operation in which an underage person attempted to purchase alcohol from a local ABC-licensed business. The second was a “Shoulder Tap” operation in which a minor approached a customer outside of the venue and asked for alcohol to be purchased on their behalf.

According to a LBPD press release, a total of 10 citations were issued during both operations including two employees and eight customers, all of whom were given misdemeanor citations for unlawfully furnishing alcohol to a minor.
