9:20am | Two more Long Beach Police Department officers have been arrested in connection with the weapons grand theft charges levied against officer Damian Ramos in early August, the LBPD announced yesterday.

The case has been handed to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office Justice Integrity Division for prosecution.

Officer Benjamin De Los Santos and former officer Derrick Dinsmore were arrested on Tuesday and Monday, respectively, for assisting Ramos after he allegedly stole numerous weapons that were supposed to be entered into evidence. He currently stands accused of 12 counts of grand theft.

De Los Santos has been suspended without pay and is being held on $20,000 bail for receiving stolen property, conspiracy, grand theft of firearms, embezzlement and circulation of a false document. He is a 6-year employee of the LBPD.

Dinsmore was dismissed in late September when his involvement in the crime became apparent, and he is also being held on $20,000 bail for receiving stolen property, accessory after the fact, and preparing false documentary evidence.

Authorities believe that Ramos acted alone in taking the weapons from a business that had just been robbed and keeping them rather than turning them over to evidence, but then enlisted the help of De Los Santos and Dinsmore.

“This is an unfortunate situation, but we are committed to ensuring that every investigation of misconduct involving any of our employees is thorough and complete,” said Chief Jim McDonnell, in a statement.
