A motorcyclist died Tuesday morning after a two-vehicle traffic collision on the northbound 710 Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The CHP says the fatal crash occurred around 9:31 a.m. when a motorcyclist and a semi-truck driver collided in the northbound 710 Freeway lanes near Wardlow Road, killing the motorcyclist. No other injuries were reported.

Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded to the scene five minutes later, cleared the area and turned the incident over to CHP, LBFD spokesperson, Brian Fisk said.

A coroner was requested at the scene, according to CHP. The motorcyclist has not been identified.

Three northbound lanes have been blocked, according to Caltrans, while CHP conducts an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision.
