Nearly two dozen people were displaced following an apartment fire in Long Beach’s Eastside neighborhood Tuesday afternoon, fire officials said.

Firefighters responded to the three-story apartment fire on the 1100 block of Raymond Avenue at 4:20PM on Tuesday, July 12, where they found heavy fire on the third-floor balcony.

“One unit sustained heavy damage, one had moderate damage and two had smoke damage,” said Mark Miller, spokesman for the Long Beach Fire Department (LBFD).

The first two units sustained fire and smoke damage, while the other two units likely had the smell of smoke and blackened walls which would require cleaning, Miller added.

A total of 21 individuals were displaced, including 10 adults and 11 children.

No injuries were reported and the Red Cross was notified, he said.
