10:30am | On Wednesday, November 23, at approximately 8:40pm, Long Beach Police responded to a “shots fired” call in the 5600 block of Elm Avenue that resulted in the death of a male adult.

When officers arrived, they discovered the body of the victim, identified as 21-year-old Wilson Edwards of Long Beach, lying on the sidewalk. Victim Edwards had sustained a gunshot wound to the upper body and was pronounced deceased at the scene by Long Beach Fire Department paramedics.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the victim was walking down the street when he came under fire.

There is no suspect information available at this time and a motive for the shooting is unknown; however, it is being investigated as possibly gang-related.
