A designated location for all of those online shopping orders made on Amazon by students and staff is set to arrive at Cal State Long Beach (CSULB) this fall, the university announced yesterday.

Amazon is set to open the new staffed pickup location, titled Amazon@TheBeach, at the University Bookstore in the first CSU collaboration of its kind, officials stated.

“We are proud to be one of the first to partner with Amazon in this capacity,” said Don Penrod, CEO of the Forty-Niner Shops in a statement. “We are excited to provide a location to serve our campus and local community and look forward to a great relationship with Amazon.”

According to a release, the location will offer students, faculty and staff the opportunity to pick up at return orders in an approximately 2,500 square foot space located at 6049 East Seventh Street.

Amazon Student and Prime members will reportedly also receive free same-day pickup for order placed by noon, and free one-day pickup for orders placed by 10:00PM.

Amazon@TheBeach will offer students a pickup location centrally located on campus to easily get their merchandise ordered through Amazon,” said Ripley MacDonald, director of Amazon Student Programs, in a statement. “We are thrilled to offer the CSULB community more opportunities to save on their overall costs along with great customer service, better selection and convenience.”

Amazon has opened similar staffed pickup locations since 2015 at Purdue University, University of Massachusetts Amherst, University of California, Berkeley and certain stories in communities near the University of California, Santa Barbara and the University of Cincinnati. The store at CSULB is part of a string of slated university store openings at locations such as the University of Pennsylvania, University of California, Davis, the University of Texas at Austin, The Georgia Institute of Technology and a pickup location in the community near the University of Akron, according to the release.
