The Board of Directors of the Long Beach Police Foundation announced its new president and executive committee this week, ushering in what Board members hope will be a new era of fundraising and awareness for the nonprofit that assists the Long Beach Police Department.
LBPF’s new president-elect is board member Bruce MacRae, a Wilson High School graduate, Long Beach resident and Cal State Long Beach alumni who currently is the Vice President of State Government Affairs for UPS. He is also active in many community organizations throughout Califonia. MacRae replaces current Board President Daniel Walker, Chairman of the Board of Farmers & Merchants Bank.
“It is an honor to be voted in as the new president of this great foundation,” MacRae said in a statement. “I have big shoes to fill and with this dynamic team and board we will work to bring together citizens and businesses of this great city for a common goal to support the men and woman of the Long Beach Police Department, and to assure that they have all the tools needed to protect and serve us.”
New board officers include Vice President Theresa Brunella, Secretary Gretchen Houser, Treasurer Lacy Marlette and Members at Large John G. Dixon and Helen Najar. Newly appointed members will begin their three-year terms starting next month.
“Bruce is well-connected inside and outside the community which is going to be helpful for our fundraising efforts,” said Houser. “He brings visitbility and prestige and commitment to the Foundation and we’re so looking forward to growing the Foundation and really helping the Long Beach Police Department where their budgets arent fulfilling things.”
The Long Beach Police Foundation is the only charitable organization that provides private, direct funding for the Long Beach Police Department. The Foundation operates the Explorers Post #295, Shop With A Cop, Toy Patrol and the Youth Leadership academy, which provides at-risk youth with tools with which to create positive change.
