1:01pm | Long Beach Police said that a Norwalk man riding a motorcycle was killed Monday night after a motorist made an illegal turn and slammed into the motorcyclist.

Officers with the Long Beach Police Department responded to a call for service just after 9 p.m. Monday regarding a traffic collision between a vehicle and a motorcycle, according to information provided by LBPD Sgt. Rico Fernandez.

The accident occurred in the intersection of Long Beach Boulevard and Home Street, where a preliminary investigation revealed that Josue Corado, 27, of Norwalk, was heading north on Long Beach Boulevard and approaching Home Street when Josue Avalos, 24, of Long Beach, who was heading south on Long Beach Boulevard in his 1995 Chevrolet Pickup truck, failed to yield to the motorcycle and made a left turn onto Home in front of the motorcyclist, Fernandez said.

When Corado’s motorcycle slammed into the truck, he was ejected and flew several feet in the air before landing on the ground, Fernandez said.

Paramedics with the Long Beach Fire Department responded to the collision and transported Corado to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead, Fernandez said.

Charges against Avalos are pending, Fernandez said.

Anyone with information regarding this traffic collision is urged to call LBPD Accident Investigations Detail Detective Sirilo Garcia at 562-570-7355.
