UPDATE 10:46am Thursday | Repaving of Ocean Boulevard initially scheduled to take place this weekend has been postponed due to the threat of inclement weather over the next few days. The project will be rescheduled sometime after New Year’s Day, the Port of Long Beach announced Wednesday.

The project is being managed by the Harbor Department and Long Beach Public Works.

2:43pm December 6 | Downtown Long Beach drivers can expect delays and detours over the next two weekends as W. Ocean Boulevard will be resurfaced near the Los Angeles River, on the road connecting Long Beach to Terminal Island and eventually San Pedro.

Westbound lanes leaving Long Beach will be closed from 8:00pm next Friday, December 17 until 8:00pm the following Sunday, December 19. Traffic will be rerouted along Shoreline Avenue.

Eastbound lanes coming into Long Beach will be closed from 8:00pm this Friday, December 10 until 8:00pm the following Sunday, December 12. Traffic will be rerouted south through the harbor.

The project will repair and upgrade the roadway, and hours were selected to minimize the impact on commuter traffic.

Trucks moving to and from the Port of Long Beach are not allowed downtown anyway, and will not be affected by the closures.
