The north and southbound lanes of Cherry Avenue in North Long Beach remain closed this afternoon as police investigate a commercial burglary that occurred early Sunday.

Police responded to the 2100 block of Curry Street at approximately 1:57 a.m. Sunday regarding a report of a commercial burglary in progress.

Upon arrival, officers observed multiple suspects on the roof of a business and obtained information indicating at least one of the suspects was armed, according to authorities.

Officers established a perimeter and the SWAT team responded to the scene, police say.

Officers conducted a search of the area, arrested multiple suspects, and are currently working to determine if any additional suspects remain in the area.

Due to police activity in the area, the northbound and southbound lanes of Cherry Avenue between South Street and Harding Street are currently closed.

The investigation is ongoing.
