9:45am | According to a press release from his office, Doug Otto, current President of the Long Beach Community College (LBCC) Board of Trustees, has received the endorsements of prominent individuals and organizations from both political parties in his campaign for re-election as a Trustee of the LBCC in the upcoming April election.
Otto has received the endorsement of key Republican leaders including former Governor George Deukmejian, County Supervisor Don Knabe and Congressional candidate Steve Kuykendall. He has also received endorsements from Democratic State Senator Alan Lowenthal, Assemblymember Bonnie Lowenthal, Long Beach Mayor Bob Foster and former Long Beach Mayor Beverly O’Neill.
In addition, Mr. Otto was recently endorsed by the LA County Democratic Committee, the Long Beach Democratic Club and the Long Beach Lambda Democratic Club. This comes shortly after his endorsement by the two faculty unions at Long Beach Community College – the Community College Association (CCA) and the Certificated Hourly Instructors at LBCC (CHI.)
“Even though the position of Trustee of the Long Beach Community College District is non-partisan, I consider it a great honor to have the endorsement of respected members of both political parties,” Otto states. “In my two terms on the Community College Board, I have found that having the support and respect of members of both parties enhances the ability to make significant accomplishments.”
