3:15pm | At approximately 3:30am this morning, Long Beach Police responded to 2nd Street and Marina Drive in regards to an injury traffic collision, which resulted in the death of a male adult.
When officers arrived, they discovered that a singularly occupied 1996 Red IZUSU Rodeo had collided into a traffic signal pole. The driver can only being identified at this time as a 54-year-old male resident of Long Beach until family can be notified; he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
It is unknown if he had been driving under the influence and the official cause of death will be determined by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office. However, the driver was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the collision, which may have contributed to his death.
