A man died after being hit by a car in Long Beach’s Wrigley neighborhood Thursday night, police say.
The crash occurred in the area of Pacific Avenue and 23rd Street around 10:39 p.m. and despite officers’ attempts to render aid, the man died at the scene, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
Authorities said the man was outside of a marked crosswalk walking westbound across Pacific Avenue when he was struck by a 2016 Dodge Charger being driven by a Long Beach resident.
Through their investigation, police found that the driver was traveling south on Pacific Avenue and was unable to stop or avoid hitting the pedestrian. The driver remained on the scene and police do not believe that speed, impaired or distracted driving are factors in the crash.
The victim’s identity has not been released.
Police urge anyone who witnessed the crash to contact LBPD Collision Investigation Detective Jeff Meyer at 562-570-7355.
