A motorcyclist was killed in a traffic collision near Pacific Coast Highway and Lemon Avenue Tuesday afternoon, police said.

Police said the crash happened around 4 p.m. Long Beach Fire Department personnel transported the motorcyclist to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

The driver of a car involved in the crash stayed at the scene. There were no initial signs of impairment for either driver, police said.

Pacific Coast Highway was shut down in both directions from Lewis Street to Alamitos Street while detectives investigated, according to police.

It wasn’t immediately clear what caused the crash.
