A 51-year-old Long Beach man was killed Friday evening after a vehicle struck him and fled the scene, police said.
Police said Felix Castro was crossing the southbound lane of Orange Avenue near Banner Drive in Bixby Knolls outside of a marked crosswalk at around 7 p.m. when he was struck by a vehicle.
Officers at the scene provided first-aid to the victim until the Long Beach Fire Department arrived and determined he had died of his injuries.
The driver of the vehicle that struck Castro fled the scene, and police are asking witnesses to come forward.
