livablewestLB-smallLong Beach Development Services is inviting the community to attend a Planning Commission Study Session to provide input on the draft Livable West Long Beach plan on Thursday, June 18 at 5:00PM at City Hall, City Council Chambers.

At the second and most recent Livable West Long Beach Workshop held on March 14, 63 participants attended and formed activity groups to review the rankings of the project programs formed during Workshop #1.

Attendees ranked Streetscapes and Bike & Pedestrian Improvements as top priorities for the City of Long Beach’s comprehensive and strategic plan to improve the quality of life in the area. Successful streetscaping would calm traffic near schools and improve the safety of bicyclists and pedestrians. Workshop participants also requested clean air and water improvements be an explicit program or required criteria for streetscaping plans.

The June 18 workshop will present an overview of the draft plan and discuss the results of community outreach efforts and focus groups.

Funded through the Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners, the plan “will lead to the next steps of ensuring that existing regional, City and Port livability focused policies, projects, and plans are funded and implemented.”
