The $1.2M improvement project for Artesia Blvd. in Long Beach will begin and is expected to be completed within two months.
The project—which also includes part of Compton, which the City of Compton has a prorated portion of $130K—stretches along Artesia from Butler Ave. to the western city boundary.
In addition to fixing minor drainage issue, the project includes milling and street resurfacing, replacing damaged driveways, sidewalks and curbs, filling pavement cracks, installing bus pads and traffic striping, as well as upgrading intersections, sidewalks and pedestrian areas to meet current ADA regulations.
According to the City, 400 tons of recycled concrete, sand, rock, and asphalt will be used to facilitate the project, with all concrete work including waste ash.
The project was financed with Prop C funds, part of Measure R, a half-cent sales tax for Los Angeles County to finance new transportation projects and programs, which took effect in July of 2009.
