At 9,633 sq. ft., the size of home that sits at 55 Vista del Golfo in Long Beach also matches its price tag: $10.9M, making it the most expensive house ever listed in Long Beach.

55DelGolfo 02The 6 bedroom, 6.5 bathroom Italian manor in Naples was built in 2011 and formerly owned by late entrepreneur and philanthropist Jeffrey M. Carlton of the Paramount-based Press Forge steel processor. It sits on three Naples lots—each at 55X80-feet—which previously held two homes that Carlton demolished.

Included with the home is a 120-foot private dock that can accommodate five boats, a 726 sq. ft. veranda with 14-foot vaulted ceilings, a so-called “Grand Hallway” with 22-foot ceilings and domed skylights, a private theatre, a 150-gallon fish tank, maid’s quarters, an elevator, and a pool/spa.

Carlton, who passed in September of 2012, has bequeathed millions of dollars towards organizations across the nation, particularly Orange County, including a $53M gift to Newport Beach’s Hoag Hospital.

Carlton’s choice of living in Naples was due to his avid love of fishing and sailing, as he sailed to Catalina Island regularly on his 78-foot yacht. According to reports, he was working on a 114-foot vessel when he passed of a heart attack.

The previous highest listing in Long Beach was $8.161M, which was the asking and selling price of 5558 Naples Canal in 2007.
