Two world records were broken in Long Beach last weekend, both of which were decidedly less than conventional.

On Valentines Day, Ehrmann USA turned the Queen Mary into a pink-themed “Love Boat” and hosted 436 people (218 couples) who acheived the Guinness World Record for most couples feeding eachother simultaneously. Ehrmann staged the event to celebrate the official launch of MIXIM, its heart-shaped Greek yogurt line. The couples fed each other one of MIXIM’s six new flavors.

GWR CertAfter the Guinness World Records adjudicator verified the proceedings, Ehrmann donated $20,000 to its charity partner, the Children’s Heart Foundation.

“We are excited to make history, but most of all, we are proud that our efforts helped benefit the Children’s Heart Foundation,” said Chris Solly, CEO of Ehrmann USA. “It was incredible to see all the people in attendance so excited about being part of this event and getting such positive feedback on our new MIXIM yogurt.”

The next day, February 15, 587 people attending the CSULB vs. Cal Poly San Luis Obisbo men’s basketball game attempted to break the Guinness World Record for most party poppers being popped. The current record posted on the Guinness World Records website is 536. An adjudicator was not on site, but official results are being verified by Guinness judges.

The event was organized by the CSULB Bateman Team as part of its Pay Like a Champion campaign to raise awareness of Popmoney, a personal payment service.
