UPDATE 1:30pm | Police believe that the man found dead in an east Long Beach park on Sunday murdered his wife in their home before committing suicide just a few hours later.
After responding to assist park rangers on a call about a man with a gun at El Dorado Park, police discovered the body of 38-year old Jason Walston who apparently died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. They attempted to notify Walston’s next of kin at his Lees Avenue home but there was no response. Authorities forced entry into the home and found the body of 35-year old Amy Walston, Jason’s wife. The couple lived in the home and leave behind a four-year old daughter, who was staying with family members at the time and was not home.
Detectives are treating the incident as a homicide and have not yet determined the cause of Amy’s death. Anyone with information should contact Homicide Detectives David Rios and Roger Zottneck at 562.570.7244.

10:35am | Authorities from the Long Beach Police Department are investigating a possible murder/suicide after finding a body in El Dorado Park over the weekend.
Police were called to the park on Sunday afternoon, where they discovered the body of a man who had apparently died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, according to LBPD spokesperson Nancy Pratt.
They also believe the man may have been involved in a Long Beach murder that left one female dead, though little information is available at this time. It is not yet clear how the two incidents may be related.
