Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) Traffic Section officers handed out nearly a dozen citations and arrested a person suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol during a DUI/Driver’s License Checkpoint conducted Saturday night, officials announced.

The checkpoint took place at Livingston Drive and Prospect Avenue, between 7:00PM and 3:00AM.

“Checkpoints are placed in locations that have the greatest opportunity for achieving drunk and drugged driving deterrence and provide the greatest safety for officers and the public,” according to an LBPD statement.

The checkpoint, through which 1,284 vehicles passed and 574 vehicles were screened, yielded one DUI arrest and seven driving citations for operating a vehicle without a license or while a license was suspended or revoked. Additionally, four standardized Field Sobriety Tests were conducted, and three citations for unsafe driving were issued.

The LBPD will conduct a DUI Saturation Patrol on Saturday, June 6, 2015.
