Long Beach police say they’re investigating a pair of shootings that happened about a mile away from each other Monday night.
Nobody was hurt in either incident, but in one case, a gunman robbed a victim and fired several shots in his general direction, according to authorities.
Police said the first shooting happened around 8:10 p.m. near Pacific Coast Highway and Pine Avenue. A man there reportedly fired several shots at a moving car but ended up hitting a parked car with nobody in it, LBPD spokesman Brandon Fahey said.
Police aren’t sure what prompted the shooting, but detectives are investigating.
Then, around 10:30 p.m., police got a call about gunshots in the bed of the Los Angeles River near Pacific Coast Highway, Fahey said.
In that case, officers found a man who said he’d been robbed at gunpoint by two other men, according to police.
“The victim stated that one suspect brandished a firearm, fired several shots near him, and robbed him,” Fahey said.
Police asked that anyone with information about either incident call investigators at 562-570-7350. They can also submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.
