A 29 year-old man who was shot in the upper body on Monday, in an apparent dispute that escalated, died from his wounds late last night. There is no suspect information available at the time.

At about 5PM Monday, Long Beach Police Department responded to a shots-fired call on the 2200 block of E 14th St.–near the intersection of Anaheim St. and Junipero Ave–and discovered the victim lying in the street. He was transported to a local hospital and was listed as being in critical condition as recently as 6PM Monday. Last night, however, he was pronounced deceased as a result of injuries sustained in the shooting, said Nancy Pratt of the LBPD.

It is unknown if the incident is gang-related, but a preliminary investigation indicates that the victim and the shooter were involved in a dispute that escalated into gunfire. The investigation remains ongoing and victim is not being identified until his family can be notified.
