Long Beach police made a second arrest and found more evidence in a fatal 2018 shooting that took place in the 1300 block of Wesley Drive.

Detectives arrested 26-year-old Danny Sourn Thursday, who was booked on suspicion of murder and is currently being held at the Long Beach City jail on $2 million bail, according to police. On Monday, police arrested David Vongkoth, 28, during a traffic stop who was booked on suspicion of murder and is currently being held at a Los Angeles County jail on $2 million bail, according to police.

Police say evidence shows that the two suspects confronted 22-year-old Richard Van on March 12, 2018, which quickly escalated to a shooting. Police responded to the shooting at the 1300 block of Wesley Drive. Officers located Van, who died as a result of a gunshot wound to the upper torso.

The motive for the shooting is believed to be gang-related, according to police. Long Beach police define “gang-related” crimes as any crime “committed for the benefit of, at the direction of, or in association with any criminal street gang.”
