Police are asking the public for help identifying a suspect who sexually assaulted a boy last month near Long Beach’s Alamitos Beach neighborhood, according to an announcement from the Long Beach Police Department.

The assault occurred at around 1:30 p.m. on July 31 in the 1100 block of East 4th Street, according to the LBPD.

Police say the suspect, who may have been attending a party in the area before the assault, followed the boy for several blocks before propositioning him and grabbing his lower body.

Video of the attack released by the LBPD shows the suspect pinning the victim against a gate before the boy fights him off.

“An altercation ensued, which resulted in the suspect striking the victim in the upper body before fleeing,” according to the LBPD.

The suspect is described as a White or Hispanic male age 18 to 25, with a light complexion. He has a light-colored mustache and medium-length hair, which he styles as a comb-over, police said.

Police asked anyone with information to contact Detective Monica Moore at 562-570-5514 or Detective William Neal at 562-570-5513. Anonymous tips may be submitted through Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or visiting www.lacrimestoppers.org.
