murdersuspectLong Beach Police Department is looking for a documented gang-member who on Saturday night shot his girlfriend and left her for dead in a car outside the North Long Beach residence they shared with their three children.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Marcos Gustavo Zermeno, 24, and his live-in girlfriend Eleonora Rivera Hidalgo, 22, were arguing in the car parked outside their residence at about 10:30PM when witnesses heard shots fired.

LBPD responded to the mobile home park in the 6400 block of Atlantic Blvd. and discovered the victim, who had sustained a gunshot wound to the torso. She was transported to a local hospital and was pronounced dead shorty after arriving, said police.

The suspect—who attempted to steal an unoccupied car as he fled the scene—was last seen jumping over a fence in the complex. He disappeared from the area and detectives say they believe there is a possibility he may try to flee to Mexico. Police said that the couple’s three children—ages seven, six and two—are now in the care of family.

Suspect Zermeno is 5’6” tall and 170 pounds with a tattoo on his lower right neck that reads “Eleonora,” a collage of skulls on his right shoulder and the word “Compton” on his right forearm. He should be considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is urged to call the LBPD’s Communications Center at (562) 435-6711. Anyone with information relating to the investigation should contact LB Police Homicide Detectives Mark McGuire and Greg Krabbe at (562) 570-7244.
