Long Beach Police Department officers have located a missing child who was found unharmed after allegedly being abducted by his father Friday night, the department said. The boy’s father was arrested Saturday morning, according to authorities.
An Amber Alert was issued early Saturday morning for 4-year-old Zayne Rhodes, hours after Stephen Rhodes, the boy’s father, allegedly forced his way into his mother’s home, located in the 5700 block of Orange Avenue, and took the boy.
Police said Rhodes made his way into the home through a window just before midnight Friday and assaulted his son’s mother before leaving in her 2018 Chevrolet Impala with a California license plate reading 8KDW830.
The mother had a restraining order against Rhodes, according to police.
A few hours after issuing the alert, the department said detectives had found Zayne and arrested his father. The department is continuing to investigate the incident.
