Long Beach police will be on the lookout for noisy vehicles this Memorial Day weekend as part of specialized beach patrol and modified exhaust operations, Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) officials announced Wednesday.

The operations will take place Saturday through Monday and will include additional officers in an effort to address quality of life issues and enhance traffic enforcement in the beach areas, officials said.

“We want residents and visitors to enjoy beach activities in a safe environment,” LBPD Commander Elizabeth Griffin said. “We ask everyone to be a good neighbor and if they see something, say something by calling 9-1-1.”

Authorities also advise pedestrians, bicyclists and skateboarders follow the law and obey all rules of the road.

Drivers are encouraged to survey their vehicles and ensure equipment is in compliance as well as park vehicles legally. Violators may be cited and/or towed.
