UPDATE | The Second District City Council candidates’ port forum, hosted by the Harbor Trucking Association (HTA), has been postponed, according to HTA Executive Director Weston LaBar.

The meeting will be rescheduled at a later date, due to the rescheduling of Mayor Garcia’s State of the City address, which will take place during the forum’s originally planned time, at 5:00PM on Wednesday, January 13. The State of the City address was originally slated to take place on Tuesday, January 12, but was rescheduled in deference to President Barack Obama’s State of the Union speech.

PREVIOUSLY: 2nd District City Council Candidates to Discuss Port Issues at January 13 Forum

12/29/15 at 5:03PM | Interested in hearing what your potential councilmember has to say about one of the most important economic contributors to the city? Make your way to the Shoreline Yacht Club on January 13.

Candidates running for the Long Beach City Council’s Second District seat will have the chance to debate pressing issues surrounding the Port of Long Beach at a January 13 forum hosted by the Harbor Trucking Association (HTA) at Shoreline Yacht Club, to take place at 5:00PM—the same date and time as the State of the City.

According to a release issued earlier this month by the HTA, the forum will kick off with a 5:00PM reception offering drinks and appetizers, followed by the discussion of port issues between Second District City Council candidates Joen Garnica, Eric Gray and Jeannine Pearce at 6:30PM.

“The port is the essential economic engine that keeps Long Beach prosperous,” said Weston LaBar, executive director of the Harbor Trucking Association. “We are fortunate to have three very qualified candidates running for the second district and to represent our port on council. The HTA is honored to host a forum on port related issues to gauge the knowledge of each of the candidates.”

At the end of the program, Long Beach City College (LBCC) will also present certificates to recent graduates of the LBCC/HTA Driver Training Program.

Registration for the event is $50 for non-members of HTA. Click here to attend.

The Shoreline Yacht Club is located at 386 Shoreline Drive South.
