Ricardo Lara.

State Senator Ricardo Lara, whose district includes parts of Long Beach, was reappointed today by Senate President pro Tempore Kevin de Leon to the Budget Conference Committee, his office announced today.

Lara previously served two terms on the committee, which sets the agenda for the Senate Budget and Fiscal Review committee.

“I am honored to be selected to serve a third term on the Budget Conference Committee representing my colleagues in the State Senate,” said Lara in a statement. “My focus will be on continued fiscal responsibility, approving an on-time budget, improving educational access for working families, reviewing the Governor’s spending plan and ensuring that our most vulnerable Californians are taken care of. It is our shared responsibility to advocate for a strong budget that aims to improve the lives for all Californians. I thank the pro Tem for entrusting me again with this responsibility.”

Lara is also chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee and a member of Energy, Utilities and Communications, Governance and Finance, Governmental Organization and Banking and Financial Institutions committees
