A day after Joen Garnica announced her endorsement by the National Women’s Political Caucus-South Bay (NWPC), Jeannine Pearce revealed she has been endorsed by the organization as well. Pearce is running against Eric Gray and Joen Garnica for the Second District seat.
The NWPC is “a pro-choice, multicultural, intergenerational, and multi-issue grassroots organization dedicated to increasing women’s participation in the political process and creating a true women’s political power base to achieve equality for all women,” its website states. The organization recruits, trains and supports pro-choice women candidates for elected and appointed offices at all levels of government, across party lines.
During elections, the NWPC alerts female candidates who apply for an endorsement of their support via email. It is possible for their endorsement to go to more than one female candidate. In this case, the organization lent support and its logo use to both Pearce and Garnica.
“The support of the NWPC is a great honor,” said Pearce in a statement. “Their commitment to building a movement to elect more women with leadership development and increased access to the political process for, with and by women is powerful. I commit to working with all members of our community and organizations like the NWPC to ensure we create opportunities for women and young girls to have a voice in the decisions that impact them everyday.”
Other prominent endorsements for Pearce include those of Congresswoman Janice Hahn, Supervisor Sheila Kuehl, Vice Mayor Suja Lowenthal, councilmembers Rex Richardson and Roberto Uranga, the Sierra Club and the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor. Click here to see a full list of endorsements.
