Senator Ricardo Lara was appointed to seven standing committees today by the Senate Rules Committee.
Lara, who was elected in 2012 to represent the 33rd Senate District, which includes Long Beach, has been appointed to Chair of Appropriations, as well as a committee member on Banking and Financial Institutions; Energy, Utilities and Communications; Governance and Finance; Governmental Organization; Joint Legislative Audit; and Joint Legislative Budget.
“I am honored and humbled to have been selected by pro tem Kevin de León to chair the Senate’s Appropriations Committee,” said Senator Lara in a statement. “This Committee offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact for Californians on a range of issues, and to ensure that our state government is making prudent financial decisions and efficient investments that move our economy in the right direction. I look forward to continuing to serve my constituents in the 33rd Senate District on a total of seven standing committees to help ensure that our economy grows, our kids have access to quality education and that our families are safe.”
