The Long Beach Area Chamber of Commerce PAC has endorsed Eric Gray for the 2nd District Council seat for the June 7 City of Long Beach General Municipal Election, while Long Beach Community College Board of Trustees member Sunny Zia endorsed Pearce. In the 4th District race for LA County Supervisor, Janice Hahn and Steve Napolitano received a slew of other noticeable endorsements, the respective campaigns announced this week.

“As a small business owner, Eric Gray understands what it takes to create jobs,” said Randy Gordon, President/CEO of the Long Beach Area Chamber of Commerce and spokesperson for The Long Beach Area Chamber of Commerce PAC, in a statement. “He has been an outstanding leader in the community and his experience on local economic development issues makes him the best candidate for City Council.”

“As a small business owner, I am happy to have the support of the Long Beach Area Chamber of Commerce,” stated Gray. “I look forward to working with my fellow small business owners as Councilman on projects to improve our business corridors and bring more family-sustaining jobs to our area.”

Sunny Zia said her support for Pearce came down to Pearce’s investment in the youth and community. 

“Jeannine is by far the candidate best equipped to lead Long Beach,” wrote Zia in a statement. “The second district needs a strong voice that will work with the business community to ensure our city is investing in youth and strengthening our workforce. I know from Jeannine’s history, she is the only candidate with the skills to bring diverse groups together to achieve one goal. I look forward to working with her to strengthen the relationship between LBCC and the city to achieve more for our residents and students.”

Meanwhile, Long Beach City Councilmember Stacy Mungo and former city councilmembers Rob Webb and Jan Hall Zolin have endorsed Steve Napolitano, alongside endorsements from over 400 elected officials, civic leaders and community representatives, for LA County 4th District Supervisor.

“I am very grateful to have received the approval and trust of so many important and influential people,” said Napolitano in a statement. A release from his office stated he is campaigning to keep neighborhoods safe, promote job growth and protect the environment, as well as invest in infrastructure and make quality healthcare more accessible.

Several Long Beach officials have endorsed Janice Hahn for LA County 4th District Supervisor, including Long Beach Mayor Robert Garcia and councilmembers Rex Richardson, Suja Lowenthal, Al Austin, Roberto Uranga, Dee Andrews, Suzie Price and Lena Gonzalez.

“I am pleased to give Janice Hahn my wholehearted support,” said Garcia in a statement. “She and I share a common agenda that centers around economic development, job creation, safer communities, and solving problems. I am fully confident that Janice is the best candidate to represent us on the Board of Supervisors.”

Other major endorsements for Hahn come from United States Senator Dianne Feinstein, California Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom, Long Beach State Senator Ricardo Lara and State Representative Alan Lowenthal.

“The 4th Supervisorial district needs a leader like Janice Hahn representing us at the County level,” said Lara in a statement. “Janice is one of the nation’s foremost experts when it comes to the issue of Ports—which is an issue that has an enormous impact on our region’s jobs, businesses, and economic development. Additionally, Janice’s local and national experience will prove to be a significant asset for our region as our next County Supervisor. I’m with her 100%.”

Additionally, Hahn has nabbed local endorsements form the Long Beach Unified School District Board of Education Vice President Felton Williams, Long Beach Community College District Board of Trustees; Area 3 Sunny Zia, Long Beach Firefighters Association Local 372, Long Beach Young Democrats, Long Beach Lambda Democratic Club and Long Beach Harbor Commissioner & Democratic National Committee Vice Chair Carmen O. Perez (Ret.)
