UPDATE | 4:15PM | NBC LA is reporting that according to an FAA official, the crash landing occured after the plane–a Bellanca 8GCBC towing a banner–hit a power line, just after departing Long Beach Airport. The pilot sustained only minor injuries.
Editor’s note: This update originally stated the aircraft was a Cessna 150; as pointed out by a commenter below, and as verified by the aircraft’s call number (N613AP), the aircraft is actually a Bellanca 8GCBC.

ORIGINAL STORY | At around 1:02pm today, California Highways Patrol was notified of a small plane which has crash landed on the 405 Freeway near Long Beach Airport. No injuries have been reported.
As of 1:10pm, both the on- and off-ramps, as well as the collector road are closed at Cherry Avenue until further notice.
KNX has reported that the small aircraft was a banner-tow plane. An FAA official could not be reached for immediate comment.
