One of the city’s longest running traditions, the Long Beach Pride Festival will kick off for the 25th time this week with film festivals, dozens of musical performers, the parade and more.  Officials expect more than 100,000 people to attend.

The fun begins on Wednesday, with the Gay and Lesbian Center of Long Beach hosting the POPCORN! Gay and Lesbian Short Film Showcase at 7:00pm, located at 2017 E. Fourth Street.  The real excitement begins Saturday the 17th, when the festival will be running at full speed from 11:00am to 10:00pm along Shoreline Drive.

There will be as many as seven stages, including the main stage, a dance tent, urban soul tent, country stage, coffee house and interfaith stage.  The first day of performances will see more than 40 performers, including The Bangles and Deborah Cox.  A full entertainment list can be found here (WARNING: watch your ears, music will automatically play when the page is opened).

Of course, the festival’s main event is its parade, which will launch Sunday’s events at 10:30am.  Technology personality Kurt Knuttson will serve as Grand Marshall.  A fresh set of artists will grace the many stages of the festival, including Sheena Easton and KC & The Sunshine Band.  Food and drinks will be sold throughout the weekend.
