During these hard times, The Long Beach Playhouse in conjunction with Artfully Thinking (ATO) will celebrate PRIDE by sponsoring a FREE event during Pride week. The plot: Mom finds a matchbook from a bar in her daughter’s bag and wonders what has been going on in her life. She goes to the bar to see where her daughter has been hanging out and some funny and touching events take place.

The play begins with the cast literally in the audience and as they begin their lines they make their way to the bar as it takes place in a gay bar and the seating for the audience is setup like a bar.

Written and directed by Debbie Rivas, Patti’s Place is produced especially for gay pride week in Long Beach and will be presented on Friday May 15th at 10:30 PM, Saturday May 16th at 10:30 PM and Sunday May 17th at 4:30 PM in The Studio II Gallery.
“Fifth of July” a play set in rural Missouri in 1977, revolving around a gay paraplegic Vietnam veteran living in his childhood home with his boyfriend takes place on each day just before Patti’s Place.  Mention the word  “PRIDE” and patrons can obtain a $3 discount when purchasing tickets online or at the box office for “Fifth of July.”
The Long Beach Playhouse, 5021 E. Anaheim Street, is celebrating its 80th year as Long Beach’s premier playhouse and serves wine, beer, water and sodas before each performance and they can be enjoyed during Patti’s Place.
